"Links" Weekend Edition: You're welcome/sorry.
The first rule of memes is that once your mom "gets" them, they're no longer memes anymore. Which means that, in the next day or so, we might witness the MEME RAPTURE. Thank my amazing colleagues Abby and Julia, who have made an utterly insane timeline of almost every meme to grace the Internet in 2015. So fun and thorough, even moms will get it! (You're welcome/sorry.)

(Psst, new readers: On Fridays, the newsletter takes a slightly different form! I put together a little ebook of reads from the week to help you catch-up and/or unplug.) You can download this week's round-up of digital culture #longreads as ~an ebook here~, OR you can click directly into the links that strike your fancy. In either case, your regularly scheduled Links will be back Monday!
How I Paid My Rent by Publishing the Most Disgusting Things on the Internet (NY Mag) Social Media Is Making the Debate on Guns—And Trump—Worse (Wired) You Can Have Millions Of Subscribers On YouTube—And Still Be Flat Broke (Fusion) Meet The Internet’s First Hater How Machines Write Poetry (Vice) Dispossessed in the Land of Dreams (The New Republic) Men Explain Lolita to Me (Lithub)
Happy reading!
