Have you read Michael Easter’s The Comfort Crisis? There’s a chapter in it about the importance of sitting with one’s thoughts, with learning to be bored. Apparently it’s all for the good of creativity, among other things I’m sure! (There are a few things I try to do without any media distractions including music.)
